A meeting of the CSTO Defense Ministers Council Working Group on electronic warfare was held in Yerevan 17.06.2022
On 16 June this year, a regular meeting of the CSTO Defense Ministerial Council Working Group on electronic warfare was held in Yerevan.
Chaired by Lieutenant General Yury Lastochkin, Chief of Electronic Warfare of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, took part in the event chaired by representatives of the defence agencies of the Republic of Armenia, Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Tajikistan (via videoconference) and the CSTO Joint Staff.
All members of the working group representing the national armed forces spoke at the meeting on the improvement of electronic warfare components of CSTO troops (Collective Forces).
Colonel Vladlen Zybin, a representative of the Russian Federation Armed Forces Electronic Warfare Directorate, made a report on the specifics of electronic warfare in modern armed conflicts.
Lieutenant General Anatoly Yakovlev, Head of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) Application Planning Directorate - Deputy Head of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) Application and Training Centre of the CSTO Joint Staff, delivered a report on the status of the CSTO basic training and research organizations in the field of electronic warfare.
The members of the working group discussed the use of scientific theoretical, research and scientific practical potential of military training and research centers in the interests of developing electronic warfare capabilities in the armed forces of the CSTO member states as well as the prospects for training military electronic warfare specialists of the armed forces of the CSTO member states in educational institutions of the Russian Federation Ministry of Defense.
Recall that the working group was established by the decision of the CSTO Council of Defense Ministers on September 4, 2020 on the initiative of the CSTO Joint Staff in order to consolidate efforts to implement the capacity of military command, specialized training and methodological, research organizations, industrial enterprises, other state and public organizations of the CSTO member states on issues of electronic warfare. The work is carried out in the interests of the components of the CSTO Collective Forces and is aimed at improving the effectiveness of the use of the forces and means of the CSTO collective security system.
