Participation in the General Meeting of the Academy of Military Sciences .

On March 2, 2019, representatives of the Joint Staff and the CSTO Secretariat participated in the General Meeting of the Academy of Military Sciences, which was held at the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
Under the leadership of the President of the Academy of Military Sciences, General of the Army Makhmut Gareev, representatives of the leadership of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, leading scientists of higher educational institutions and research organizations of the Russian Academy of Sciences and concerned departments dealing with defense issues, discussed the development of military strategy in modern conditions and current problems of construction and training the armed forces.
Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation - First Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Army General Valery Gerasimov voiced the welcoming speech of the President of the Russian Federation to the Academy of Military Sciences and made a presentation on the development of military strategy in modern conditions and the main tasks of military science.
The event participants discussed topical issues about the nature of future wars and armed conflicts, the role and place of military strategy in modern inter-state confrontation, including political, economic, informational and other forms, as well as theoretical aspects of preparing the state for war, methodology and practice of improvement and development strategic leadership of the state’s military organization.
A number of speeches were devoted to the military-strategic realities of the international situation, problematic issues of operational deployment and organization of command and control of troops (forces) in theaters of operations, problems of ensuring biological security and the role of space systems in ensuring military security.
